The Rock Eisteddfod Program is an extremely positive cross-campus venture. Each campus – Bidwill, Dunheved, Mt. Druitt, Shalvey and Senior has both student and staff representatives who meet every Wednesday afternoon at the Senior Campus. The Program involves up to 120 students and approximately 25 staff members.
Chifley’s journey into Rocka as follows:-
2005: Slave to Fashion.
2006: Sweet Dreams.
2008: The Unfortunate Tale of Angelica Cottington.
Except for 2004, we have made it to the Grand Finals – the highlights being placed 2nd in the Open Division for “Hamlin” and 4th in the Open Division for The Unfortunate Tale of Angelica Cottington. There were several reasons why Chifley did not enter in the ensuing years ... However ...
2012 sees Chifley once again on the road to Rocka performing “In the Shadows of Motown” (centred in the city of Detroit).
Already the rehearsals are in full swing – if you visit the MPC on any Wednesday afternoon 4.00 p.m. – 5.45 p.m. one will witness energy, enthusiasm, team work and lots of fun as the students “Put their Hands Up for Detroit” – the first piece of choreography being taught. This program is a well-structured drug and alcohol free event. The students adhere to all the rules set down for rehearsals and performances in a very positive and friendly way.
